On the flysch and limestone
Into the wonderful world along the border
Kozina (trasa stare železnice) – Mihele – Draga – Boršt / San Antonio in Bosco – Boljunec /Bagnoli della Rosandra – Dolina – Socerb – Ocizla – Kozina (trasa stare železnice)
The trail starts in the close vicinity of Kozina, right where the old Kozina–Trieste railway track commences. The track was rearranged as a very special cycle trail that leads you across the area where limestone and flysch bedrock meet, right between Slovenia and Italy. In Italy, the trail winds through picturesque Karst villages inhabited by the Slovenian minority. Upon arriving back in Slovenia, you can pursue cycling through the Beka Landscape Park which gives breath-taking views and beckons you to see its natural sights. Particularly interesting is the gorge of the Glinščica River with its nearly vertical rock walls and visible layers of flysch sediments. You can also return to Kozina through the small village of Ocizla, known for its many karst caves and sinkholes. The water sinks beneath the surface where the flysch and limestone bedrock make contact, creating an extremely diverse underground world between Beka and Ocizla.
