Around the edge of the Škocjan Caves Park

The area of the Škocjan Caves Park, a natural and cultural monument included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, gives unique opportunities for exploring the wealth of natural water. The one-way thematic trail on the edge of the Park, starting in the village of Famlje or Dane pri Divači, runs past many natural phenomena and man-made water collection sites. Scattered along the way are renovated village ponds, wells and water reservoirs, along with natural springs and the largest ice pit in Slovenia. The entire Park area, lying where  the limestone Karst plateau and flysch Brkini area meet each other, boasts extraordinary karst phenomena. In this world, water has the final say. Take the trail and explore wonderful water phenomena on the surface. Yet water has also created stunning works of art deep beneath the surface, so do not hesitate to visit the Škocjan Caves at the end of your hike.
