Petelin-Rogelja Homestead – Guided visit to the Tomaj village, with a wine tasting
As you move uphill you start to enjoy the view of the Karst plateau, of the ‘seas’ of pines, as the poet Kosovel described them. Become familiar with the local people’s way of life. With a glass of wine, discover what inspires us.
Tomaj is a one-of-a-kind village. While walking through the village, you’ll not only admire the landscape that was an immense inspiration for Srečko Kosovel, but also learn about the life of the locals. The visit will be rounded off at the family-owned Petelin Rogelja farm, boasting a centuries-old tradition of winemaking. As you enjoy a traditional snack and a pleasant chat, you’ll also get a chance to taste some selected wines.
The programme includes:
- getting to know the rich cultural heritage of the Karst and the life of the locals,
- optionally, a visit to the Church of St. Peter and Paul featuring frescoes painted by Tone Kralj, and the Kosovel homestead,
- a tour of a wine cellar with stone vaults,
- a tasting of 5 samples of wine and a traditional snack.
We recommend appropriate sports/hiking equipment and clothing.
