Petelin-Rogelja Homestead – Visit to a family wine cellar, with wine tasting

Teran wine is a cultural product bearing witness to the endurance and hard work of the Karst locals who, despite the harsh conditions on this rocky plateau with just a thin layer of fertile soil, periods of drought and water scarcity, decided to build their homes here.

Every wine cellar in the Karst is an experience in itself. Get to know the family-owned Petelin Rogelja viticultural and winemaking farm whose tradition goes back centuries. A visit starts with a presentation of the family’s history, all the way back to 1640, and an exhibition of old documents testifying to the viticultural and winemaking heritage of the Karst.
The original wine cellar has become too small, requiring a new one to be built underground, carved into bedrock. The next step is a visit to the wine cellar with its stone vaults, including the tasting of wines and a snack.

Classical tasting no. 1:

Family- and pet-friendly.  We have a very friendly female dog named Brina.

We are a family-owned viticultural and winemaking farm that was first mentioned already in 1640. Today, we cultivate about 4 hectares of vineyards, scattered around the Tomaj village. Besides Teran and Teran liqueur, we offer the Malvazija, Vitovska Grganja, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines in limited series.
