Welcome to the Kosovel Homestead!
In the heart of the Karst, in the village of Tomaj, stands the Kosovel family homestead – a place that profoundly shaped the life and work of one of Slovenia’s most important poets, Srečko Kosovel. Following a comprehensive renovation, the homestead has become a cultural, educational and creative centre where the remarkable legacy of the Kosovel family meets contemporary interpretation.
The homestead invites visitors into the world of the Kosovel family – their everyday life, relationships, creativity, social engagement and deep connection with their surroundings. The renovated rooms preserve the authentic character of the house while bringing to life the stories of individual family members, who also engage directly with visitors through the use of modern technologies. Through the museum exhibition, personal stories, objects and thoughtfully designed content, visitors discover the homestead as a living place – a meeting point of culture, art and creativity.
The Kosovel Homestead is more than a place of remembrance; it is a place of inspiration. Here, visitors can experience the spirit of the time in which Kosovel’s poetry took shape while also discovering a space for new ideas, encounters and creative journeys.

Admission fees
- Guided tour of the exhibition – adults: EUR 5.00 per person
- Guided tour of the exhibition – children, secondary-school and university students, pensioners: EUR 3.00 per person
- Guided tour – school groups: EUR 3.00 per person
- Family guided tour (2 adults and up to 3 children): EUR 13.00
Opening hours
Summer opening hours (1 May–30 September)
- Tuesdays and Fridays: 14:30–18:00
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: 8:00–12:00
Winter opening hours (1 October–30 April)
- Tuesdays and Fridays: 12:30–16:00
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: 8:00–12:00
Outside regular opening hours, group visits are available by prior arrangement.
