Štanjel – a guided tour of the village

90 min

While you can explore the beauty of Štanjel by yourself, some sights and spaces can only be visited when in the company of one of our guides. They will recount plenty of stories about life in this unique karst settlement since prehistoric times.

The tour includes

  • a visit to the medieval village Štanjel and its castle, which was given its Baroque-Renaissance image that is seen today by the Counts of Cobenzl,
  • a visit to the Lojze Spacal Gallery which is found in the Karst’s biggest castle complex,
  • a visit to the Church of St Daniel, featuring a typical Gothic bell tower, one of the most characteristic elements of Štanjel,
  • a visit to the ethnological collection in the Karst House, one of the oldest houses in the settlement,
  • a visit to the Ferrari Garden, the work of the architect Maks Fabiani and one of the most beautiful parks in Slovenia, dating back to the period between the two world wars.
