Did you know that the Karst was classified among the richest areas in the world in terms of biodiversity? The endeavours to preserve this diverse natural environment are most prevalent in protected areas as well as in our natural park. It is the Škocjan Caves Park, the gem of the Karst, which is also included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. In 2004, the whole Park area was accepted into UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Programme (MAB) as the Karst Biosphere Reserve.
