Walnut roll in a jar

Walnut roll in a jar, an innovative version of the Slovenian traditional walnut roll

A piece of walnut roll in a jar is a new rendering of the traditional Slovenian cake, called ‘potica’, which has been adapted to today’s lifestyle and presented in reusable packaging. The hanging jar tag can be used as a bookmarker. After the cake has been baked, it is pasteurised – this incredibly effective preservation method extends its shelf life by 10 weeks, without any preservatives and additives. A great idea for a gift you can buy today and present much later.

Contained in high-quality and sturdy glass, it is also suitable for transport. It has arrived safely in Australia, the Philippines, USA, and Great Britain and nearly all European countries. It has also won the trust of the Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia, while a great many Slovenian companies have purchased it as a business gift. It made its debut during the Month of Design in 2014 (two prizes: the best interpretation of theme and the best product).

All ingredients are carefully selected from the local environment and fresh. There are too many walnut rolls in stores that are wrapped in plastic and full of additives, which is not healthy nutrition and does not promote environmental sustainability. A piece of walnut roll in a jar is thus a counterbalance for all those who care about nature and environment and who prefer carefully selected ingredients, with no preservatives, colourings and other additives. The flour in our walnut roll is supplied from a mill in the neighbouring village of Dolenja vas, the walnuts are grown in our family orchard that counts 150 walnut trees, the eggs and the butter are sourced from different organic and tourist farms in the Karst and Brkini, the carefully dried white grapes are processed by the Gostilna Mahorčič restaurant, while the salt is from the Piran Salt Pans.

The price of one walnut roll jar is EUR 22.
Personal pick-up possible by prior agreement.
