The Tabor Military Museum in Lokev
An exceptional collection of exhibits presents military equipment from different historical periods.
In the old part of the Lokev village, close to the Church of St. Michael, a very noticeable defence tower will catch your eye. It was built in 1485 by the Venetians to defend themselves from the Turks. Later on, it was turned into a village granary and, in the last 20 years, it has been the home of the Tabor Military Museum.
In the forefront of the museum presentation are exhibits dating back to World Wars I and II and the period of the Yugoslav Army. The exhibits include various military equipment, a replica of an ‘office’ on a front and many items from both world wars. Visitors will surely be surprised to see equipment from the period of the Illyrian Provinces, a Cossack uniform, and the remains of equipment of Roman warriors which constitute some of the oldest museum exhibits. The museum also hosts temporary thematic exhibitions.
The Tabor Military Museum is the largest private collection of its kind in Slovenia. The museum has received already 43 plaques and awards and is also included in the Guinness Book of Records.

January and February: Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00
Other months: From Wednesday to Sunday from 9.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00
