Škocjan Cave Park
The caves, as the key natural monument of the Regional Škocjan Cave Park will leave no visitor indifferent with their vast chambers and a real subterranean “canyon”. They were included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites in 1986, they are part of the UNESCO ’s Man and Biosphere Programme (MAB) as the Karst Biosphere Reserve (2004) and in 1999 they were entered on the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. Škocjan Caves are also very famous for the pioneering research of the subterranean features of the Karst, the rich archaeological findings, the unique biodiversity and exceptional cultural heritage.
