Pliska Trail

A Karst educational trail through a typical landscape

This interesting circular trail starts in the centre of the Pliskovica village and is marked by a sheep, the symbol of the village, carved into stone. These special marks lead to a gmajna grassland, passing by many dry-stone walls built by the local people at a time the rocky landscape was turned into meadows, pastures and fields. You can learn about the special features of karst gmajna and its autochthonous birds from the information boards found at several points along the trail, and discover what ponds and puddles were used for in the past and why they are still important today. The trial is highly educational, while also providing a pleasant walk across the gmajna grasslands.
