The Brkini Fruit Route Festival strives to preserve the flavours and aromas created by the local producers. During this period, tourist and fruit farms as well as local restaurants will offer up one of the many typical Brkinian meals, created around apples, plums and other Brkinian produce. The farms are opening their doors.

The Festival offers a multitude of events and experiences to nourish both your body and soul. Enjoy any of the events or simply come to visit us and pamper your palate!

Open Doors Day at the Pečar fruit farm
The Malner House (Sadjarstvo Pečar fruit farm) is opening its doors for all those who are interested to learn about what happens at their farm throughout the year, and especially in the autumn.

Apple-pressing Workshop with Tamara Urbančič - FROM APPLES TO JUICE
Tamara Urbančič is a mentor and initiator of agricultural groups in primary schools in Ilirska Bistrica and Pivka, and a lecturer and leader of workshops about self-sufficient lifestyles and naturally produced food. In an informal setting, she encourages children to think about the importance of locally produced food. With her help, children become familiar with farm animals, gardening and working on a farm. In this workshop she will present the importance of fruit-growing in our area and teach children how to make fresh apple juice using a small fruit press.

In the case of bad weather, the workshop will be cancelled.
