Pipan winegrowing and winemaking farm
The grandfather Miro planted the first vineyards soon after World War II, for his own needs and to keep himself amused. He then passed his love and passion onto the next generations. Today, the grapevines are cultivated by Darjo and Jaka, each with their own view of the related processing and cellaring, making the Pipan wines truly exquisite.
Each of their vineyards has a special status. Young vineyards give youth to the wine, whereas the old vineyards unveil a certain charm and maturity. They cultivate grapes on traditional Karst trellises made of wooden pillars and cross beams, which are typical in local winegrowing. Most Pipan (Vinogradništvo in vinarstvo Pipan) wines are made from the Refosco grape variety from which the Teran wine is produced, and they are also proud of their Vitovska Grganja, an autochthonous grapevine of the Karst.
