Magajna Trail

The Vreme Valley is a charming world situated between the Vremščica mountain range and Brkini. The circular thematic trail, starting in the village of Famlje in the Vreme Valley, climbing to the top of Mt. Vremščica and returning to Famlje, is dedicated to the Slovenian writer Dr Bogomir Magajna who was born here.  The trail is marked inventively with an illustration of a moustached man, a character from one of the tales for youth written by Magajna. The trail leads through picturesque villages, across the grass hillsides of Mt. Vremščica up to the highest Velika Vremščica peak, reaching 1,027 m above sea level. It offers magnificent views of Brkini, Mt. Snežnik and the Adriatic Sea, including the Dolomites mountain range and Julian Alps on the opposite side. Sprawling meadows speckled with sheep out to pasture make up an idyllic landscape that will remain in your memory. The trail leading from the mountain ridge, marked as the Slovenian Mountain Trail, will take you back to the starting point in Famlje (near the sports centre).
