Budin - Tavčar Wine Cellar

Budin - Tavčar Wine Cellar

Kreplje is a village in the hinterland of Žekenc Hill, with the highest peak Volnik, past which a macadam path runs and the railway line built during the reign of the Empress Maria Theresa and connecting Vienna and Trieste. The Way of St. James runs through the village, leading to Trieste.

The stone vault above the entrance to our farm bears the inscription: 1607. The Pr’kšarjevih farm was famous for its homemade bread, cattle breeding, farming and winemaking, and ran one of the first prosciutto-drying plants in the Karst.

Today, the Budin-Tavčar wine cellar delights visitors with its exquisite Teran, Vitovska Grganja, Malvazija and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The tasting room sits 55 people.  A visit to our cellar is available by prior arrangement. Whenever your path takes you to this area and you would like to taste a slice of our prosciutto and have a glass or two of our wine, you are very welcome.
