Alpe Adria Trail – Stage 36
From the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea
The Alpe Adria Trail is an international hiking trail that winds through three countries. It commences at the foot of Mt. Grossglockner in Austria and continues through Slovenia to the Italian town of Muggia beside the Adriatic Sea. The two penultimate stages lead from Italy through the Karst. From spectacular views of the Adriatic Sea to the mysterious underground world, the two stages will expose you to the world of karst phenomena and unique natural beauties.
Stage 36 from Lipica to Bagnoli della Rosandra (IT) first runs across the hills of Kokoš and Veliko Gradišče and then continues on the cycle and hiking trail along the former railway track stretching from Trieste to Hrpelje. The landscape is covered by forest and will fascinate you with its wide diversity of vegetation and birds. After crossing the state border, the trail descends to the breath-taking karst gorge, the Glinščica Valley, which is a natural reserve.
